Synopsis
THE WAY TO MANDALAY is an in- tense and poetic journey through the life of the Danish musician John Mogensen. From his childhood, to his first breakthrough with Four Jacks, to being forgotten and descending onto a destructive path – until he suddenly soars through the charts with his enormous breakthrough in 1971 with “Der Er Noget Galt I Danmark”.
John has Denmark at his feet with beloved classics such as “To Mennesker På En Strand”, “Så Længe Jeg Lever” and “Fut I Fejemøjet”.
THE WAY TO MANDALAY is a touching and beautiful love story between John and his wife Ruth, and their tumultuous marriage filled with warmth, passion, beers and chaos, and most of all the music, which is John’s greatest passion. But John’s struggle with his own perfectionism and his constant search for the absolute ends up eating him up from the inside out. John dies, but the music lives on…
